The little cell phones are becoming dynamic by the day with the advent of new technology and its incorporation in the making of these phones. Along with adding entertainment and connectivity options in these devices, its makers are also keen on providing equal security measures to ensure complete consumer satisfaction. The newest form of security that mobile phones would soon be making use of is inspired from biometrics.

This system by OKI would be exhibited in the Barcelona Mobile World Congress 2008 which will run from February 11th to February 14th. This is the first of its kind face-iris recognition technology which is designed specially for mobile handsets. The OKI face sensing engine is probably the most sophisticated one in the mobile phone market providing facial image processing with attractive features like face detection, feature point extraction and video based personal identification. Along with all these attractive features being showcased, OKI’s new iris recognition middleware is also scheduled to be launched. These technologies have already been used with success in digital cameras, camera phones and some mobile games and require surprisingly less memory. The successful launch of this technology and its integration into the mobile handset will ensure a more secure cell phone.
