Bloatware finds resting place in Android-based smartphones

The trial software, often referred to as bloatware, that laptop/PC makers load onto their new machines, has found its new victim – Android-based smartphones. The so-called bloatware comes pre-loaded with trial software and apps that can’t be deleted from the Android devices. As it is known for reducing device performance by taking away available hard disk space and system resources, bloatware has found the new resting place in smartphone apps touting mobile TV, football games, location based search and games. The latest examples for the Android community includes – Samsung’s Vibrant phone, Motorola’s Backflip phone and even the HTC Evo. While the pre-loaded trial apps and other non-essential software are intended to help the consumers in getting familiar, there’s still no denying that these apps meet the operator’s business and revenue needs more than anything else. With all the competition for subscribers, we hope the pre-loaded apps on smartphones won’t reach a similar level of annoyance as they did on PCs.
