Yeah, yeah, we all know that the first ever touchscreen BlackBerry is sort of a big deal and that the BlackBerry Thunder, also known as BlackBerry 9500, will change the world in more ways when it arrives at our blessed retail stores. But what really has us interested is the huge 360×480 touch display that will apparently be powered by an OS 4.7 which is wonderful because that means that the PDA would turn out to be a great multimedia player as well.
The smartphone is expected to bring CDMA carriers true iPhone competition since the Thunder features a carrier music store much akin to the iPhone’s iTunes store that will also allow users to purchase songs from their device. Another iPhone similarity is expected to be the Thunder’s glass surface which, as these shots reveal, will also feature a portrait media player for watching movies and videos taken with the handset. Heavenly isn’t it?
