Apple, Samsung involved in another patent dispute

Yet another twist in the chain of corporate scuffles between electronic giants, Apple and Samsung. The two companies have been dragging each other to the courtroom so many times over the last thirty years, on charges of copyright violation and infringement. Recently Samsung, the Korea based company has filed a lawsuit against Apple in Seoul court. Reportedly the fresh allegation of the company is that the recently launched Apple products such as iPhone 4S and iPad2 unfairly breached and used some of patents held by Samsung.

Samsung sues Apple

In global markets, both the companies fiercely compete to dominate the lucrative mobile device market. This fresh move by Samsung has definitely heated up the ever present tension between these two electronic majors. In February, Apple lodged a complaint against Samsung and in response, the Korean sued Apple in a District Court of California on April 18.

To be precise, Samsung has filed this case over three of its key utility patents. These patents are basically related to the technology of high definition data display, graphic user interface and sending of sort text messages. A major daily in Korea has also reported that Shin Jong-Kyun, the head of the telecom division of Samsung has said that this time they are committed to take stern action against Apple and no compromise will be tolerated by them in the proceeding of the case. Moreover the most glaring and interesting part of their report is that in response to this legal action taken by Samsung, the Apple management team has offered them to resolve this matter and put an end to this long lasting patent war between them by approving a mutually agreeable licensing deal.

It’s notable here that till date Apple and Samsung have got engaged in over 30 patent violation cases in 10 different countries. Apart from Samsung, Apple is also involved in several other patent disputes with other major mobile phone makers such as Motorola and HTC Corp.
