Apple’s much anticipated MobileMe application, which was haunting the rumour town, was announced yesterday. Now you can push your email, contacts and calendars to applications such as iPhone, iPod, a host of other Apple’s products and your PC as well. The highlight of the service is that it looks just like a PC’s desktop. Old .Mac (dot Mac) users will be transitioned over to MobileMe when it launches in early July. An online storage of 20 GB is offered and the service costs $99 per year for individuals and $149 for a family pack.

MobileMe is built around Ajax and is completely web 2.0 hence one can access the service from one’s favorite web browser and it Syncs photos from your iPhone too. You can upload, share, and access your documents from any web browser with iDisk which comes along with MobileMe. All the information would be stored on an online server or a ‘cloud’ and keeps the user up to date. The tech guys at Apple’s labs must be working overtime to design new products so often.
