You seldom hear about Altek revealing a phone and that too blessed with a 12MP camera, but sadly it is China specific, and therefore barring the Chinese, it is only for admiration. Dubbed the T8680, this 12MP camera phone from Altek is more like a digital camera with a 3 inch WQVGA LCD, a 3x pop out zoom and a small Xenon flash. What is disappointing is that despite a powerful lens it can only record videos at VGA quality-but since it is Chinese, we pardon the flaw. Other specs include MP3 and AAC playback and FM radio. On the connectivity front, the T8680 offers tri-band GSM and EDGE connectivity. The Chinese retailers will be selling this phone next month for $440 and there is literally no hope that this one will ever come out of China.
