A Spanish ‘modder’ has devised a way to hack Symbian S60 3rd Edition phones. This provides a user unlimited access to the file system of the Symbian phone helping him/her to modify or alter the phone’s original features. The OS of a phone is usually locked in order to protect the user from malware and also software which are not trustworthy. However, an enthusiast may find that frustrating.
Nokia and Symbian both have worked on more security features than just the platform security capabilities model. Nevertheless many are willing to risk the security consequences and run free applications from developers that are inexpensive and sometimes free. However, this could prove to be an open invitation for malware.
